Best Malware Removal Software

If you are trying to obtain the best malware removal software, you will find your task cut out for you on account of the wide number of choices available. In most cases, you will need to pick software that enjoys a good reputation for its reliability and effectiveness in removing malware. If you wish to find out which software is worth using, you should start by checking websites that are dedicated to ranking different malware removal tools.

The right kind of malware removal software is one that scans your system and looks for any and all malware that is present on the system. In addition to scanning for malware, the software should also have additional functions such as looking for bots and preventing modifications to a host file.

The right kind of software is also one that offers secure file shredder functionality and which can replace modules with certain code that will ensure that your main programs continue to run normally.

It is also important to look for malware removal tool that offers total compatibility across all the early versions of the Windows operating system. It also makes sense to use freeware programs that can do a good job of protecting your computer.

The only problem with using freeware programs is that they cannot provide real time protection and are more likely to scan on an on demand basis. Even so, these programs can offer a reasonable level of protection to your computer and so are worth checking out. If it is compatible with other anti virus programs, your system will be protected to the maximum possible level.

Not all malware removal programs are sophisticated and some are in fact just able to perform basic functions but are easy to download and run. Other programs can offer more complete protection such as taking a backup of your registry and constantly checking the computer for presence of malware which will be removed, if identified.

Many people wonder whether it pays to use premium or freeware or even shareware software. Ideally, you should use premium software which is the only one that is able to offer total protection.

Ultimately, you have to take a call as to how much protection your need though only good malware removal software will certainly help to keep your computer protected against various kinds of malware. Anti Malware Program

AVG Anti-Virus 2011 Free

The latest version of AVG’s popular free anti-malware program can protect you against rootkits as well as viruses and spyware. The rootkit sweep has to be run separately from the main scan, but it’s quick and reliable, and there’s now a Game Mode, which means the program won’t interrupt you with notifications or update alerts when you’re running an application in full-screen mode.

AVG 2011′s new PC Analyzer component adds an additional string to the software’s bow, and scans your system looking for Registry errors, junk files, fragmentation and broken shortcuts. However, the tool can’t fix any problems it finds – you’ll need to download the free AVG PC TuneUp tool to do that – which makes this new feature seem a little redundant.

As in previous releases, AVG’s LinkScanner component can protect you from malicious websites.

If you install the optional toolbar, you’ll be able to view the safety status of the site you’re currently viewing and read a report.

Another new feature is the Facebook button, which gives you quick access to your account and also checks every link you post.

The changes to AVG Anti-Virus 2011′s interface are minor, but welcome. Although the layout remains much the same, with the status of all 10 security modules displayed on the overview screen, the classy muted grey and blue color scheme is a definite improvement. Windows Vista and 7 users also get a complementary Desktop gadget to update the program or run a scan.

There are also a number of under-the-bonnet changes that have resulted in AVG 2011 being quicker and using fewer PC resources than previous editions.

Malware Removal Software Review

When it comes to picking the perfect malware removal software, there are going to be many options available. Typically, you need to choose software that has earned a reputation for providing reliable and effective malware removal abilities. One way to identify good software is by checking websites that rank different malware removal programs.

Good malware removal software should be able to scan your computer for malware and in addition should offer added functionality including scanning for bots and ensuring that malware is not able to perform host file modifications. It should also be able to provide functions such as secure file shredding and it must be able to replace a malicious adware module with code that helps to ensure that the dependent program continues to function normally.

Another feature that can make malware cleaning tools more effective is their compatibility with different versions of Windows operating system including the early Windows 95 operating system.

Some removal tools are also available as freeware and can provide acceptable level of protection.

However, free versions will normally be limited to providing on demand malware scanning but can also provide auto scan on startup and other diagnostic functions. Compatibility with other kinds of protection programs is a plus point because then the malware cleaner program can be used along with popular antivirus software and in this way will be able to offer maximum protection to your computer.

There are some malware removal programs that are very basic and can easily be downloaded and run with minimum fuss or bother. These programs perform important functions including backing up the registry and will check your computer thoroughly to find malware which it will then remove.

If you are wondering whether to use freeware or shareware or even premium malware removal tool versions then you should realize that the latter type offer real time protection and monitoring which is not available with freeware and even shareware programs.

It is up to you to decide what level of protection is required though choosing malware removal software that offers maximum protection is always the best course of action. General Malware Removal Guide From USB Drive

USB Drive (aka Pendrive) is the most common storage device. However most of the people always had their USB Drive infected with all sorts of virus, malware, trojan, spyware or whatever you call it. For a normal user, they might not know if their USB Drive is infected or not. Want to know how to check and remove all the malware from your storage device? Read the guide below.

1. Whenever we plug in our USB Drive, Windows XP will prompt us with a window as shown above. Most of the time, most of the people will scroll down and click “Open folder to view files”. If the USB Drive is infected with malware, clicking “Open folder to view files” will execute the malware in the USB Drive and it will spread and infect the Windows in the background. So, first thing when we see this window, we must click Cancel .

2. To open your USB Drive, Click on My Computer. Do not double click on the USB Drive because it works the same with “Open folder to view files” in first step, it will execute the malware if the USB Drive is infected. In order to access the USB Drive, refer to the screenshot above. Click on the drop box at the address bar, then select the USB Drive, in my case it is KINGSTON (I:).

3. My USB Drive is clean and free of malware, therefore I can’t show you screenshot of my USB Drive, instead I asked my friend to send me a screenshot of his USB Drive as example to eleminate the malware. Refer to the picture above, that is what you see normally after you access your USB Drive. However there could be some malware hiding in your USB Drive which you don’t know.

4. Next, Click Tools then click Folder Options . Click on the View Tab. Under Advance Settings scroll down and click Show hidden files and folder – ON , untick Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) – ON then it will prompt something and click YES . Refer to the screenshot above if you don’t know what I mean. After that click Apply. Follow the Steps Below if you having problem with Step 4. Else you can skip it and go to Step 5. If Folder Options is disabled but Registry Editor is still working in your system, then you can enable Folder Options by editing Windows Registry. Click Start then click RUN. Type regedit in RUN dialog box and press Enter. it’ll open Registry Editor, now go to following keys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Policies\Explorer HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Policies\Explorer

In right-side pane, check whether a DWORD value named NoFolderOptions exists or not? If it exists, delete it. But sometimes Registry Editor is also disabled. Click Start then click RUN. Type following in RUN dialog box and press :

REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v DisableRegistryTools /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

Now after enabling Registry Editor, you can re-enable Folder Options . There have been cases of viruses like Kavo changing back the hidden files back to hidden after you enable it. To fix this, Go to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL

find for CheckedValue, it should be a DWORD key. If it is not then delete it.

5. After finishing Step 4, if your USB Drive is infected with malware, you should be able to see some weird file like shown in the first sceenshot above such as Autorun.inf. Right click at Autorun.inf then click open with Notepad . You should be able to see what is in the second screenshot. It targets the malware whi.com and now you can close the Autorun.inf. Next you can delete all the files associated with the Autorun.inf and suspected malware files . Then Empty your recycle bin. If your Windows has been infected with malware already, the malware will be automatically infect your USB Drive when you plug in your USB Drive. So following the steps above will be useless. It is only useful for you to prevent your Windows from malware.
